Weaving Relations
This body of work investigates the relationships formed between individual lines of yarn during the weaving process, treating each line as distinct and allowing the resulting pieces to emerge from their interactions. Developed as part of a doctoral investigation, it engages with anthropologist Tim Ingold’s idea that life is lived along lines that weave together to form a dynamic meshwork. Through making, it examines how the behaviour of these lines shapes what is created. The insights generated offer a way to perceive the world itself as a kind of weaving, demonstrating what the practice of weaving can contribute to our understanding of relationships and interconnectedness.
